Perenco has acquired a 50% interest in two areas on Block 121 in the Maranon Basin.
These areas are immediately to the north and east of Perenco's Block 67. To date, three discoveries have been made in Block 67: the Paiche, Dorado and Pirana fields. In addition, several exploration prospects have been identified and are in their evaluation phase. Once development is completed, it is estimated that these fields will have the potential to produce over 60,000 barrels of oil per day.
Perenco is also actively participating in an exploration programme in the region, as well as acquiring seismic on nearby Block 121. The objective of this exploration programme is to add to the proven reserve base of the discovered fields. The reserves potential of the area is estimated at 300 millions barrels.
A 200km seismic programme was acquired on Block 121 Norte in 2010. This has enabled Perenco to identify targets which will be evaluated through exploration drilling in 2011.
