Perenco, in addition to the development project of the three discoveries made on Block 67, the Paiche, Dorado and Pirana fields that have a potential to produce over 60,000 barrels of oil per day, is continuing the exploration efforts in the Maranon basin area.
Firstly, Perenco intends to finalise the exploration activity on Block 67, which contains a number of prospects that could easily be tied in to Perenco?s facilities. An Environmental Impact Assessment (EIA) was been approved by the DGAAE in November 2011 for eight new platforms and 16 exploration wells to pursue the exploration close to the existing discoveries.
Secondly, Perenco entered into Block 121 with a 50% interest. This block is divided into two areas. The North part has been extensively studied in recent years, resulting in the drilling of the Nashino 1 well in July-August 2011. Although the well encountered good sands, no oil was shown. Therefore the efforts will be now concentrated in the Southern part of the block with new seismic to be shot in 2012.
