The closest community to Block 67 is located 30 km from the block's boundaries (see B67 map of the region).The process of consultation of the area of influence, as defined by law, involves workshops and public hearings. These are witnessed and supervised by the Peruvian administration. The objective is to inform the communities of the area of influence of activity, to discuss any possible impact and to determine together in a positive spirit the mitigation measures that will allow to minimize these impacts.(see document on communities consultation process).
Perenco recognizes the importance of cultural diversity and respects the values and culture of the communities of the region. In addition to its legal obligations, and with the objective to develop harmonious relations with the communities of the region, Perenco voluntarily supports and finances a Community Relations Plan which is designed jointly and with thef ull agreement with the communities of the region (see Community Action report). The objective of this plan is to help improve the health conditions of the communities of the region, to support education programs, to develop sustainable development projects, and to facilitate local transpor of, so that the communities of the region can realize their development in complete harmony with their values and culture.
The Peruvian population at large and, more specifically, the population of the Loreto district will continue to benefit from the revenues brought by the Block 67 operations. Perenco is proud of its role in helping Peru develop its energy supplies and move towards energy independence.
