Perenco recently hosted France's Ambassador to Peru, His Excellency Jean-Jacques Beaussou, on a visit to Block 67. The visit, which also included a number of Embassy staff, demonstrated how Perenco is meeting the operational, environmental and social challenges, in order to successfully deliver this project of national importance.
The guests flew by helicopter from Iquitos to the project's logistics base where they were shown how Perenco is successfully operating in an environmentally sensitive area. The visit highlighted the steps being taken to minimize the impact on the forest, including with regards to transportation. The Ambassador and the visitors saw how the company is applying state of the art technology to many aspects of the project.
The visit concluded at the Buena Vista Community, situated 30 km from Piraña along the Arabela River. The group received a warm welcome from the local authorities and people. This important part of the day allowed Perenco to show an example of the virtuous circle of its community work (see social activity report 2012), which is successfully run by Perenco's Communities Relations Team and the Buena Vista Community.
Since the visit, the Ambassador has thanked Perenco for a highly informative day in which he was most impressed by all aspects he saw, especially by the complexity of our operations and the integration of the communities of the region into the project.
