Peru Block 67 Appraisal Campaign Completed

Perenco is pleased to announce that, with the completion of the Dorado-2D well, the 2009-2010 Appraisal Campaign on Block 67 in Peru has been successfully completed ahead of time and within budget.

Perenco's ability to drill the majority of B67 wells in less than 15 days has allowed the campaign to be completed 15% below budget.  The success of the campaign has in part been due to the extensive front engineering, from both Perenco HQ, the subsidiary in country and the service companies involved, as well as the efficient implementation of casing drilling technology and the optimization of the drilling parameters.

Directional casing whilst drilling allowed for the programmed trajectory to be followed in a timely manner and mitigated the main drilling risks associated with  conventional wells.

Dorado-2D reached a total depth of 7436ft within 12 days, reducing the drilling time by half since the first well of the appraisal campaign, Paiche-2D.  Testing operations are now ongoing on Dorado-2D.

The completion of the Dorado-2D marks the end of a 16-month heli-transported operation, in which nine wells have been successfully drilled and evaluated: 17,781 feet of formation have been logged, 335 feet of cores recovered, 11 well-tests carried out and 65 formation fluid samples taken. More than 50,000 tons of material and consumables, the equivalent of seven Eiffel Towers, have been heli-transported during the campaign.
