Perenco Peru and the Institute for Amazonian Research (IIAP, by its Spanish acronyms), launched the training center "Manatí" in Iquitos. This new facility will allow developing an experience-based environmental education program intended to promote the manatee protection, the proper use of environmental resources and the conservation of the Amazon among local school students.

The new agreement between Perenco and the IIAP, added to the existing conventions on protection and biodiversity studies between the two entities, reiterates the strong willingness of Perenco to participate in the economic and environmental development of the Loreto region and demonstrate that exploitation of oil helps to preserve the environment.
